  • We do not give refunds for cancellations of any sort due to it being such a high demanding activity this year. However, we do want to work with you and reschedule your trip if you cannot make it for your scheduled trip. Feel free to give us a call at least 2 weeks prior to your scheduled trip to reschedule.

  • $50 dollars per person

  • Our tour times vary on each tour. Our Hoosier Valley Hotshot is 1 hour and 45 minutes and goes about 6 miles in distance. Our M-37 Expedition is 1 hour and goes about 3 miles in distance.

  • Yes, railbike tours consistently sell out, so we highly recommend booking your spot prior to arriving in Traverse City.

  • Railbiking excursions can be enjoyed by almost anyone. Infants will need to be secured in a front child carrier, such as Baby Bjorn, on their mom or dad’s chest. Toddlers may ride in their own seats and we can provide additional safety harnesses. No lap riding is permitted. Young children may not be able to reach the pedals but they will be able to sit back and enjoy the ride.

  • Wheels on Rails operates on a privately owned out of service rail line. There is no train traffic. The rail line is disconnected from any active track.

  • Passing on our bikes is not possible since everyone is riding on the same line. Our aim is for you all to enjoy the journey, not to go as fast as you can. A slower rider in front of you will allow you to enjoy the scenery and nature of this trail even more.

  • Wheels on Rails will operate rain or shine. We will not be operating when there is thunder or lightening. Our tours run in light to moderately inclement weather, but will not run in heavy rain that is unlikely to stop, or if threatening weather appears imminent. We'll check the radar before every tour and if it looks like it's going to start pouring and rain for most of the tour, we'll cancel or delay departure until the weather passes. The exact timing and path of thunderstorms is difficult to predict, therefore a decision to cancel a tour because of a thunderstorm is typically only made 30 minutes before departure.

Tours will go ahead in light rain or showers. Rain ponchos will be available for purchase on-site. Riders are expected to dress appropriately for the predicted weather conditions and temperatures. Tours are outdoors and the rail bikes are open to the elements. Rescheduling or cancellation due to weather will only occur if Wheels on Rails considers it unsafe to be on the rails. Customers who cancel due to weather are subject to our cancellation policy.

  • Please check the forecast before coming to your scheduled tour. Dress accordingly to that. Comfortable and loose fitting clothes suitable for activities like biking or hiking. Closed toe shoes are recommended as well. Refreshments and rain ponchos are available for purchase at our location.

Please refrain from bringing any pets, drugs, alcohol, or smoking supplies. Smoking or vaping is not permitted on the tour.

  • We strongly recommend booking ahead of time online. If you’re in the area and want to check us out, give us a call for tour availability.

  • There is a weight limit of 250 lbs per seat.

  • While we love our furry friends, we do not allow pets on our rides.
